A gap in the market, discovered from one's own backyard. Melvin started Enjoythesun in 2020 when he was looking for beautiful solar lights himself and couldn't find them anywhere. Since then, his webshop has grown into the specialist in atmospheric solar garden lighting, with over 1000 customers and a 9+ rating. Time for the next step: from Mijnwebwinkel to Shopify, with a completely revamped look that matches the growth ambitions. Also across borders.
What is Enjoythesun?
Enjoythesun sells solar garden lighting and decoration that makes your garden more beautiful both during the day and in the evening. Think of atmospheric standing lamps, cheerful light strings, and playful solar animals, from peacocks to geckos. Everything runs on solar energy: charging during the day, automatically turning on in the evening. No cables, no hassle.
The story began a few years ago when Melvin was looking for solar lights for his garden but only found boring models. Why didn't that exist in the Netherlands? That question turned into a webshop. And that webshop became a success!
The result
Enjoythesun had been doing well on Mijnwebwinkel for years. But with growing ambitions – also towards Germany and France – Melvin encountered limitations. The platform offered too little flexibility, limited app possibilities, and an appearance that no longer matched where the brand stands today.
The switch to Shopify was therefore more than a technical migration. It was an opportunity to redesign the entire shopping experience. A fresh, professional look that suits a webshop with 1000+ satisfied customers. Smarter product presentation. And the technical foundation to eventually sell in German and French.
We designed the webshop in such a way that the atmosphere of the products is immediately palpable: warm, inviting, a little summery. Just like a garden full of solar lights when the sun sets.

The Shopify webshop
Shopify was the logical choice for Enjoythesun. The platform grows with you, offers endless apps and integrations, and makes international expansion much easier than with Mijnwebwinkel.
For this project, we chose a theme that puts the products first. Atmospheric images, clear categories, and a smooth checkout process. Important additions that Melvin is happy with: a well-functioning review system, upsell possibilities, and the professional look he was looking for. Technically, the shop is now solid. Melvin can maintain the shop well himself.

When and why did you start your business?
During the COVID-19 period in 2020. I had a lot of time then because I was at home for a few weeks. During that period, I wanted to buy lights for the garden that were easy to install. That's how I came across solar lights. However, I only found boring models of solar lights and went looking for beautiful/cheerful designs. After a long search, I only found them online all the way in England. It seemed like a gap in the market, and also a lot of fun to offer this online in the Netherlands.
What do you consider to be the most enjoyable product in your assortment?
Definitely the solar animals. Sometimes on the verge of kitsch, but they always make me very happy! They are also extra nice both during the day and in the evening.
What made you decide to enlist SYSO?
I wanted to switch from Mijnwebwinkel to Shopify and give the webshop a fresh look. After comparing several parties, SYSO seemed like the best option. From the beginning, it felt trustworthy and personal. SYSO also seemed to understand best what I wanted.
What are you most happy with regarding the new webshop?
Actually, a lot. The new design, the product reviews, all the extra apps that are possible, and the more professional appearance are the things that really stand out for me.
May I know what your future plans are?
I want to continue growing in the Netherlands and Belgium, and also establish a name as a webshop in Germany and France.
