When Marieke – the creative mind behind Mevrouw Emmer – approached us, her webshop had been firmly established on Mijnwebwinkel for years. But as is the case with growth and ambition, she increasingly ran into limitations. The time was ripe for a fresh start, one with more design freedom, improved Google search rankings, and a system that could evolve with her. So we moved her cheerful universe of Dachshund Frits, festive greeting cards, and unique gifts to Shopify.
We designed and built a webshop that matches Mevrouw Emmer's distinctive, colorful style and ensured a smooth transition without sacrificing SEO value. The result? A professional, well-functioning, and playful webshop that will instantly make you happy.
What is Mrs. Emmer?
Mevrouw Emmer is a brand and creative webshop owned by Marieke, offering a wide range of cheerful and quirky products. The star of the collection is Frits, a wire-haired dachshund whose mischievous antics and adventures are the centerpiece of various items. From greeting cards and notebooks to tiles and stickers, each product is designed with love and attention to detail. Whether you're looking for a unique card for a special occasion or a cheerful addition to your home, you're sure to find something you love at Mevrouw Emmer!
Result
The result is a webshop that's just as cheerful and quirky as Mrs. Emmer herself. We chose a flexible Shopify theme that perfectly matches the brand's colorful style while also being easy to manage for the owner. The illustrations by Dachshund Frits are beautifully showcased in the design, and thanks to the clear structure, visitors can effortlessly navigate the extensive product range. The technical side also received the necessary attention: all products were carefully migrated from Mijnwebwinkel, including redirects, ensuring the webshop retained its SEO value and is ready for further growth.
The new webshop
Mrs. Emmer's new webshop is built on Shopify – a modern, user-friendly platform perfectly suited to a dynamic brand. We chose a theme that offers ample space for Dachshund Frits's cheerful visuals and illustrations, without compromising on usability. The webshop is clear, mobile-friendly, and equipped with handy features that improve both management and the customer experience. Moving from MyWebStore
Moving from there isn't easy, but we've been moving webshops for several years now. This one was no exception. Besides developing the webshop, we also migrated hundreds of products for it, including redirects to maintain its SEO ranking – successfully, as it has grown significantly since then.
We asked Marieke from Mevrouw Emmer a few questions
When and why did you start your business?
I started as a fully independent entrepreneur under the name Mevrouw Emmer at the end of 2012. I was pregnant with my second son at the time and looking for a suitable birth announcement. I couldn't find one (even with my first son), so after much deliberation, I quit my job and started designing and selling birth announcements.
What do you think is the nicest product (category) in the range?
Actually, I love all of dachshund Frits's products the most. But I definitely have a few favorites! These include the "Flower Hat," "Congratulations!", and "Party" (party animals) greeting cards, and the "Bosje geluk" and "Pluktuin" tiles made by dachshund Frits. I also love the Foekje Fleur towels and tea towels. Besides Foekje Fleur , I have several other brands that I offer exclusively in my webshop—and that I also sell in my brick-and-mortar store in Oostvoorne. I also really like the Storytiles .
What made you decide to hire SYSO?
After running my webshop at Mijnwebwinkel for 10 years and encountering quite a few limitations in terms of system and design, it was time to switch to Shopify. The whole moving and setting up a Shopify website thing was holding me back, until I discovered SYSO! They were able to handle the migration from Mijnwebwinkel to Shopify smoothly and efficiently for me.
What are you most happy about regarding the new webshop?
The possibilities in terms of design, the appearance of the webshop (much more professional), keeping track of the inventory and being better found by Google.
Can we know what the future plans are?
Of course. Dachshund Frits will be able to show his face on more products. And, as a true dachshund should, he'll be sticking his nose in everything and appearing on more and new items. I'd also like to design a gift wrapping collection and a picture book someday. I'll also continue to lovingly create and illustrate birth announcement commissions.
Would you recommend SYSO?
I would definitely recommend SYSO because you can outsource the migration to a new webshop, and they really listen to your wishes and ideas. Mariko, SYSO, is also very helpful and answers all your questions or checks them. It's a great way to learn the system yourself and be able to continue with the Shopify webshop independently.
